The Alison Rose Foundation's mission is to raise funds to support amniotic fluid embolism research and medical care for children and mothers.

Tragically, on August 16th 2019 Alison Rose Waclawek passed away while giving birth to her daughter, Ada Rose Waclawek, due to a rare and often fatal condition called Amniotic Fluid Embolism.  In a true miracle Ada Rose survived and is thriving.  Alison brought so much love and light into this world that can never be replaced.  This Foundation has been created to honor her memory and to try to continue her legacy.  Our goal is to one day be able to prevent anyone from having to experience this same fate and to support any mother or child going through similar hardship.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Since its inception, the Alison Rose Foundation has hosted several blood drives; helping collect hundreds of units of life-saving blood products. The organization also raises funds through events, including the Alison Rose Foundation golf tournament, and an annual appeal.

“Our goal is to one day be able to prevent anyone from having to experience an Amniotic Fluid Embolism and to support any mother or child going through similar hardship.”

Happy 37th Birthday, Ali!

To honor Ali's 37th birthday, the Alison Rose Foundation announces its 2024 donation recipients, providing $50,000 to organizations that support amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) research and awareness and provide medical care for mothers and babies or other support for families impacted by AFEs.

Our 2024 recipients include the Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) Foundation and Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.

With the announcement, the Alison Rose Foundation eclipses the $250,000 mark in total giving since its inception to organizations that support maternal and baby health and direct support to families impacted by AFEs.

The 2024 Giving Recipients include:

$40,000 to the Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) Foundation to further research efforts of amniotic fluid embolisms, a rare and often fatal birth complication. The announcement comes on Alison Rose Waclawek’s 37th birthday (October 22nd), who the Alison Rose Foundation was created to honor after her tragic passing.

“Since our founding in 2020, we have already donated over $130,000 to the AFE Foundation. We are excited to be able to again make a significant contribution this year from the incredible support we receive from Ali’s family, friends, and the Buffalo and Rochester communities,” says Justin Waclawek, Co-Founder/President of the Alison Rose Foundation. “Our goal is to one day prevent anyone from having to experience this devastating birth complication. The AFE Foundation and their mission and dedication to advancing AFE research is in lockstep with that goal. Every day, we work to continue Ali’s legacy of giving back to others and this $40,000 for will go a long way in doing this.”

“These donated funds will advance vital research initiatives, foster innovation, and support collaborative projects aimed at improving our understanding of Amniotic Fluid Embolisms,” shared Miranda Klassen, Executive Director of the AFE Foundation.

$10,000 to Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital

“We provide care to a predominantly rural, four-county region, and while we do not offer routine obstetric care in our hospitals, our Emergency Departments at Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital may be the closest places for pregnant women in crisis to seek care.” says Matthew C Talbott, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Finger Lakes Health. “Our emergency doctors are trained and ready to provide the care these women and their babies need, but we continuously need to upgrade the equipment we use. The generous donation from the Alison Rose Foundation to support the purchase of two new baby warmers for our EDs will help us keep those often-tiny newborns alive and healthy. We are so grateful for this gift.”

“The Alison Rose Foundation is honored to be able to provide Finger Lakes Health with equipment that will support mothers and babies,” says Justin Waclawek.

The 2024 Alison Rose Foundation Golf Tournament is in the record books.

Over $47,000 has been raised for the foundation. See the “past events” tab for more information about the day.
